fashion cat

Ok, project runway was a re-run this week (big disappointment in my Thursday night!) Hopefully we will be on track for next week!

Here is a fun photo I found and I am posting this in honor of David. Fashion and cats...great!

Also, these I found on Etsy and I thought they were so fun and adorable! I wish blackey would sleep in one of these in the night. It would totally look neat/chic in our bedroom, but I am almost 100% sure blackey would still sleep in our bed :( David spoils him so bad!

Olympic Contest

I entered this contest on ModCloth.com:
Sense everyone is into the Olympic right now, ModCloth.com ceated this awesome contest for us fashion lovers to compete in. We are to pick a country and create a look that goes with that country. I chose Italy. Here is my styleboard:

Valentines for the kids!

I made these little valentines for my nephews and niece. I wanted to share, they turned out cute! My nephews are obsessed with Wii and we play mario cart over the internet. Ean (6) is always Mario and Evan (4) is always Luigi, so I personalized them that way! Emma (2) just likes girly things, so I chose Dora to put on her Valentine:

Season 7, Episode 6: A Little Bit of Fashion

This week the designers had to design outfits for little girls. It was so fun. I loved this episode. One of my favorites. Then there was a surprise, the next day they had to pull together a coordinating outfit for the a "grown up", which was the models. Here is my review!
{least favorite outfit award} designer, amy
I don't know what amy was thinking, but this is just hilariously ugly. hahaha...better luck next time girl! "A" for trying to think outside the box and do something different.

{outfit I would wear award} designer, ben
Love the colors, love the fit, love how they match. I would wear this :)

{beautifully constructed award} designer, seth
Awww, seth. How you are my favorite designer on the show. I am so glad you won. Congrats. You really deserved it. I thought it was adorable when the little girl said that her favorite part about the outfit was her purse. You really "got it" for this week. The mom's look is so modern, and the outfit was beautifully constructed! I love black and white together, I want you to win so I can buy your clothes. lol :)

{most creative award} designer, ben
This gets the most creative award because I think that ben was creative and did a perfect job with putting the mom and the daughter's outfit together. fantastic with the gray and black/red accents in both outfits. Sharp and polished. Love the flower in the girls hair!

{favorite designer award} designer, jay
I realized this week that Jay is a good designer. He has had some solid outfits these past weeks. So we will see how well he does. Good job Jay.

Project Runway Review (Episode 5, Run for cover)

This week was a good week of project runway! There was a lot of good designs. This week they had to design an outfit for Heidi Klum to wear on the cover of Marie Claire (april issue). Here were my thoughts:
{least favorite outfit award}designer, janeane marie
I really wish that she would have gone home. Last week and this week she had a terrible dress with ugly hems.

{favorite designer award} designer, anthony
I am so excited that Anthony won the challenge. His designs have been good and terrible. He is so funny on the show and makes me laugh so much. I am so proud of him and glad he won this challenge! His dress was beautiful.

Accessorizing...

I am a member of Modcloth's street team. We are called ModSquad. Here is our assignment we were supposed to do! Fun.

The first style question is sent by Carlee from Canada.
I am considering buying the Whirlwind of Wonder Frock for my grade nine farewell. I'm not looking for anything too dressy and I need a a suggestion for shoes to go with this dress. I don't want to wear heels, either flats or sandals, can you list some places to look for or colours that would work well?
By the way, I live in Canada so brands/stores from the States wont do. (Note ModStylists: we ship all over the world, so pay no heed to this!)
Thank-you
.

What I wrote and put together:
Hi Carlee from Canada!
I think this dress is perfect for your event. This dress would look best accessorized with pinks and golds I think!
Buy a few new things (earring, shoes, etc.) and you can also incorporate what you already have in your wardrobe in the pink and gold family.
Do everything in gold and add one piece that is pink! It will really make your outfit stand out, but be totally adorable and relaxed all in one.

Project Runway Review (Episode 4, Design your heart out)

This week the designers had to use the Campbell nutrition logo/branding for a formal gala event. They also had to use "normal models". These "normal models" were everyday women that had some sort of heart disease through out their life. These women were fun to watch and it touched my heart <3 <3 <3.

As for the designs, they weren't my favorite. I didn't really like very many.

{least favorite outfit award}designer, Janeane Marie
Ewww...that bubble hem is gross!

{outfit I would wear award} designer, Amy

{beautifully constructed award} designer, Jay Nicolas

{most creative award} designer, Mila
Love the graphic stars. Very nice!

{honorable mention award} designer, Ben
Not so sure about the gold color belt...but he pulled it together with the necklace and the shoes.

{favorite designer award} designer, Amy
She won the challenge this week. She totally deserved it. The past couple of weeks she has had really solid designs. She has got her head sewn-on-straight (pun, I am so funny :), and wants to do a really good job at every challenge. That shows. Keep up the good work and we will see you in the top hopefully!

As most of you know, I am a graphic designer. So of coarse I am going to be making my own valentines day cards. I was looking on line for inspiration, and I couldn't help pass these adorable images to you! Let's enjoy the sights of this holiday...even though it is kinda irrelevant, it is just a good excuse to eat chocolates and remind people that you love them in cute little ways:) That is just fun! Enjoy...

Job Update

Here is what is up with my job situation for all the family and friends out there that want to know. lol.

I got a job at a coffee shop named Cup O' Joy. It is located in Dakota Dunes, SD. Like 2 minutes away from my old job. I am super excited about this job and I think it will be a blast. I love making coffee for people. It will be a nice change of pace and a lot less stress. They also have awesome wraps and soup, so everyone can come and visit me...just give me a little time to learn the ropes :)

You can pray I find another job too. The coffee shop job will not pay enough or have enough hours. I think I really want to be a fitness instructor and teach yoga, pilates, and Zumba classes. That would be fun and I think I would be really good at that.

I have learned to rely on God through this difficult time of not knowing where he wants me to be. Hopefully I have been faithful to him and STILL need to be faithful that he is gonna provide enough money for David and I. Which he always does provide, so no worries!

I am a good graphic designer and that was solid in my head, God just needed to humble me. I think he was saying, "Whatever you think is solid in your life, (for me this was graphic design) is not solid. The only thing that is solid is Me, Jesus. You need to put your trust in Me more." I needed that reminder. I was reminded that it is not about having the highest title, most power, a lot of money, to be famous, or anything of that sort. It is about being able to give God the glory for everything that I do. Whether it is a barista at a coffee shop or the best graphic designer, He deserves my availability whenever and wherever. This is what I can take away from this experience. I am still learning a lot and my life still feels really unstable, but I couldn't be happier! I will take it one day at a time putting my trust in Jesus, my best friend.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
       and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Project Runway Review (Episode 3, The Highs and Lows of Fashion)

This week the designers had to be in pairs. Wow, what a challenge. They also had to create a surprise 2nd look on the 2nd day for $50.00. Here is my review:
{least favorite outfit award} designer, Ping
She was hilarious to watch, but just didn't "cut it" (pardon the pun Ping...hahaha) for me or the judges. I am glad she was the one to go. Maybe she will get some experience and come back in season 9 or something.

{outfit I would wear award} designer, Emilio
and designer, Anna

{beautifully constructed award} designer, Maya

{most creative award} designer, Mila

{favorite designer award} Emilio Sosa
So far everything he has produced, I have loved. He uses clean line and has a graphic eye that appeals to me. He seems to always do "patchy" designs which are really intricate and always looks well placed. The fit of his dresses are perfect. I predict he will be in the top 3.

{food for thought award} designer, Anthony
Anthony's dress reminds me of what the witch from the movie "Chronicle of Narnia" would wear. Do you see the connection?
Ok, so maybe a far stretch, but that is what first came into my mind. :)

Thats all...hope you enjoyed!
